We use a dog-friendly, common sense approach to dog training.
Does your dog...
If the answer is "yes" to any of these questions, then you are in the right place. With our positive methods, we can help you achieve a well-trained, happy, friendly dog.
Train4Fun Dog Training School has many great services to offer, such as:
The Do’s and Don’ts of Training Your Dog:
Do
Play with your dog every day. Not enough of us play with our dogs. The simple act of playing helps to build the bond between you and your dog. Your pet will start listening to you more because it enjoys being with you more. In addition, physical exercise helps burn off excess energy.
Exercise your dog mentally as well as physically. Mental training is as important as physical training. Teaching your dog commands such as Sit and Down will help to exercise its brain, which is vital for a healthy, happy dog.
Reward good behaviour. We only ever seem to give attention to our dogs when they are doing things wrong. No wonder they keep on doing things wrong. Dogs love attention from people. So if your dog is walking nicely on the lead, or doing something else you like, tell it and sometimes surprise it with a treat or a game with a toy. This way, your dog will be more likely to repeat the behaviors you want.
Don’t
Hit your dog. All you are doing is breaking the bond you have with your dog, and your dog will start to dislike you. You also put yourself at risk of getting bitten.
Scold your dog for chewing something like your new shoes. Sorry, but you have a dog, and dogs need to chew. It’s sadly our fault as humans for leaving tempting items in their path. You have to provide appropriate things for them to chew on instead.
Rub your dog’s nose in its own toilet. Doing that is not going to stop your pet from going in the house. All it will do is to break the bond between you. Your dog will start to dislike you and will find a hidden place to toilet.
